Here is a new piece of Mexican Fire Agate I cut last night! The large flat surfaces on the stone created a lot of problems in polishing, even with the very sophisticated tools from Mt. Mist and VH Technologies. This Mexican Fire Agate had a great variation in hardness between the chalcedony and colour layers causing undercutting and an 'orange peeling' effect which was troublesome to remove. After resolving the issues with the stone, the cubism influenced carving turned out wonderful.
